Sink Nodes focus on the pivotal role of exporting processed data to external destinations. Sink Nodes are adept at capturing events from Processing Nodes and efficiently routing them to a variety of Sink Types, leveraging multiple transport mechanisms and Mappings for optimal compatibility and reach.
The configuration process for each Node in Cortex is divided into Steps for clarity and ease of use. In the first step of setting up a Sink Node, your primary task is to select the Sink Type.
Configuring Sink Nodes: After placing a Sink Node on the Canvas, it needs to be configured for functionality.
Stepwise Node Configuration: Each Node in Cortex, including Sink Nodes, is organized into sequential steps for setup.
This selection is made by choosing one of the available Sink Types and then proceeding to the next stage of configuration by clicking the 'Next' button. This initial step is crucial as it defines how the Sink Node will function and integrate data into your Application.
Selecting Sink Type: The first step involves choosing a Sink Type from the available options.
Progressing Configuration: After selecting the Sİnk Type, click the 'Next' button to proceed with further settings.
When configuring a Sink Node in Cortex after selecting it as your Sink Type, Step 2 involves several key actions.
Assign a unique name to the Node, distinct from other Nodes in your Application.
Optionally, add a Description for detail and clarity.
The Node Name and Description will help distinguish it in the Canvas via Node Preview.
You can also integrate Application-level Vaults into your Sink Node configuration.
Activate the toggle to use Application-level Vaults.
Choose from existing Vaults and enter the corresponding Personal Encryption Key for access.
Defining new Attributes for the Node is a crucial part of Step 2. Here, you must not only name these Attributes but also select their respective Attribute Types.
Specify New Attributes for the Node and select their Attribute Types.
This setup is crucial for proceeding to Step 3, which involves Mapping the sink's incoming fields to these Attributes.
In Step 3 of configuring your Email Sink Node in Cortex, the focus shifts to deciding on the Map Type for your incoming data. This step is critical as it determines how the data from the sink will be structured and integrated into Cortex. For detailed information on the different Map Types and their specific features cf. Sink Mapping Types.
